All my time on the wheel from now on is going to be taken up on developing a suitable form to best show the colours of the seasons. These are just a couple to get me going. I like the form and feel there is enough surface on view to best show the glazes I’ll be adding.
With this next pot, I decided to try adding coloured slip, well white slip, to depict snow as winter is the first season I’m developing.
I applied 3 layers of white slip horizontally, drying in between each layer with the hot gun. I then added more white slip using a sponge to create texture to give the appearance of snow. I also added a small amount of light blue and light brown slip to add definition. Once fired I’ll add a clear gloss glaze.
Good start Cath. I like the slip addition. Will be interested to see it once it’s been fired.
