Last week Dave gave us a tutorial on how the throw on the wheel. Although I’ve been throwing for over 10 years I will always take note on how other people throw and any new techniques I can pick up.

Dave than showed us how to throw plates by using bats. Below is how the clay is thrown to then put the bat onto. This photo was taken the week after which is why the clay had dried out at the edges.

My wheel in my studio has pins that I place the bat onto but it’s alway useful to know how to do it this way especially if I’m to throw plates or large bowls that require bats whilst at uni.
